Mud volcano is clustered into Aghzibir group of volcanoes situated at the same name ridge. This group includes such volcanoes as Aghzibir, Aralig, Dovshandagh situated in the south Azerbaijan 15-20 km south and south-west off Alat station- Aghzibir-landing stage, within the coastal area of South-East Shirvan lowland. Aghzibir is a large mud volcano which absolute height measures 120m. It is situated over north-west termination of the mentioned ridge. Mud volcano crater is situated at the top of Bozdagh elevation. Steepness of mud volcano slopes and their dissection varies from place to place. The northen slope is very gentle

and smooth, whereas the west
and east ones are more steep. Just three mud volcano eruptions were recorded in
1964, 1978 and 2002. Mud breccias cover with average thickness around 80m occupy
the area of 514 he, which volumetric amount measures 410th cu m. Several small gryphons seeping gas water and mud are situated within volcano crater field. Some whimsical mud breccias lobes flowed down the slope as a result of volcano activation. |
