Shamahy – Gobustan

Mud volcano Damirchy

A solitary mud volcano situated within Shamahy region, Azerbaijan with surrounding terrain covered by thick groves, numerous hills close to the same name village on the right bank of Pirsagat River. Mud volcano occupied the circular area 50-60m in diameter, its location is slightly bulging mud volcano terrain with numerous clustered different size cones, gryphones and salses seeping light-gray and light-brown mud, water and strongly bubbling natural gas. Mud volcano absolute height measures 1400m. Only 3 eruptions had been recorded – in 1958, 1969 and 1971.
